These Virginia City races started out in 1959 as a fictitious account in the local newspaper to fill space. The following year the races began for real and they have become a unique tradition on the Comstock. |

Started in 1969 by two Sierra Mountain packers, the event has grown to an annual event that attracts over 30,000 visitors. The event includes all manner of mule events from barrel racing to dressage to packing contests |
