The following is a summary of the efforts and activities of the SNU in 2005.
Six new members joined the Unit in 2005
We Increased the number of rallies to eight for the year.
Averaged five rigs per rally an increase from 2004. We set a new attendance record of 9 rigs at our August rally at Twin Lakes
Six out of the eight rallies held in 2005 included people who were attending their first SNU rally.
We held rallies in four new locations, two of which were property owned by SNU members.
Increased member participation in Unit activities and management. Five members contributed articles and other material to the newsletter, one member helped develop a method to encourage all members to vote on future rally schedules, and members began taking more active roles in the planning and coordination for SNU rallies and events. One member led a guided tour of the ghost town of Bodie during our August rally.
We continued developing a relationship with The Nevada Sate Parks Department, including providing input and ideas on the development of a Class A area at two Southern Nevada State Parks.
We began a partnership with the new Nevada Airstream Dealer. Participated in their Kick-Off event, requested and received support for the Unit newsletter from this dealer and received a donation for the Unit 30th Anniversary celebration. The dealer also brought new Airstreams to two different SNU rallies which gave rally participants an opportunity to check them out.
We continued development of the website with new additions such as a show and tell section with photo tours of various Airstreams, and a history section commemorating the 50th Anniversary of the formation of WBCCI. http://SierraNevadaAirstreams.org/
We continued to rebuild the Unit archives by developing and maintaining scrapbooks of all SNU newsletters and SNU promotional clips and a photo album of rallies and events.
An article was published in the Region 12 newsletter regarding the success of the reorganization of the SNU.
Continue our effort at being a good neighbor. SNU members continue seeking out other Airstream owners, telling them about the SNU and asking about their Airstream experiences. Guests and visitors are always welcome at our rallies and meetings.
"The WBCCI is an exclusive club because not everyone owns an Airstream! The idea is to get out and have fun with your RV - with friends who share common interests." Bryan R. Leipper (772)
